Design Problem
To create five distinguished and representative marks that tell the story of the area as it relates to the population that either already lives there, or aspires to live there.
Design Solution
This piece is made up of five different logos for the Bear Valley neighborhood of the city and county of Denver in order to address all of the possible solutions for an identity. Each different type of logo tells a part of the story of the neighborhood itself from minute to grand details. The word mark is referential to the children of the area due to a large family presence, vast parks and three schools within walking distance. The pictorial represents the area’s even proximity to downtown Denver and the foothills of the Rockies as well as its iconic namesake. The letter mark was inspired by the fact that the neighborhood is a hidden gem within the city, while using colors inspired by Red Rocks, which is visible in every corner of the area. The emblem highlights the diversity of the neighborhood using analogous colors of an even, similar shape, just as we are as humans. The abstract mark is a representation of the geological history of the actual valley; carved by mountain run off water over millions of years to eventually be the vast urban sprawl along the Bear Creek.
