Project Overview
The Document Library component was designed to be simple yet versatile in order to be utilized by all of the different areas of the business. Rather than expecting users to peruse through pages of documents, each channel can provide an easy to use space for quick and effective obtainment of desired materials relevant to the overall content and context of the associated page. A brainstorming session with channels combined with a competitive analysis revealed the desired techniques needed to make the most efficient component with recognizable features that will meet the standards of user expectations. A text only, and image based version were created.

Research:

A competitive analysis was conducted to analyze the most common practices and techniques that are used to create an effective search function. Both industry competitors and non-industry competitors were researched for a comprehensive perspective.

Once the competitive analysis was completed, a collaborative workshop was conducted to include the different channels within the company representing all areas of the business. The workshop identified the needs, goals, and ideas of the business to be in tandem with user goals for maximum optimization.

After the workshop, a current user flow was identified to assess the voids in the process, which then lead to a new user flow and a user journey map being generated to meet the needs and goals previously identified in the workshop.

Moderated tests were then conducted to assess if the designs were effective and relevant, and how they may have augmented the process. Results indicated an immense improvement, and encouraged users to consistently utilize the search function.
